Place - Market Mix

We are doing our product/service in the grass area near the playground. This would be a good area because it's outside and since our product is throwing wet sponges at teachers/staff it's fine, also it can't really be inside or we'll be doing extra service on the carpet. The traffic for our place is pretty popular because lots of people hang out there, and there is sunlight, as people pass they will see that it's on a perfect location so they will probably think twice before walking past. No one has been doing the same product/service as ours probably because you need to get lots of materials. Our product/service will stand out nice because of our placement.

Price - Market mix

How did you work out what price you were going to sell your product/service at?

We worked out our product\sevice price because we asked the victims/teachers what the price should be, and also discussing to our group to vote on what the average price the teachers said. 

How will you ensure that your product is worth the price you are asking people to pay (quality control)?

Our product/service is worth it because we added a prize which is a bag of lollies but only if you hit the teacher, and plus you will get revenge/fun at the same time from the experience its a win, win.

What price are others (B&E group/real-world business) charging for the same good (use a table to show this)?

What else will you consider when it comes to the price of your product?

I'll say that the 3 throws are 50c cheaper than the $3 making it also worth the while.


Can Experiment

Today at chemicals we did a science experiment on a sprite can. 

Aim: To see what happens when you put a heated can in cold water.

Hypothesis: My hypothesis was that the can was gonna scrunch up.

We had hot water in a sprite can and cold water in an ice cream container. Then we put the can, filled with hot water in it on a stove to heat the can and water even more. Next, we put the can on the stove we waited till it was steaming hot. After it was steaming we put the water in cold water and we saw that the can has been crunched up. 

So what happened was that the can was filled up with hot water and was getting heated up at the same time because of the stove, making it so the particles were fast. Then the water was evaporating in the can making gas. As the cold water entered the can the fast-moving particles were then slowed down because of the cold water, causing the gas and hot water to contract to make the can crunched up.


I've done this experiment in my last school that's why my hypothesis was right.

Ki o Rahi

 History: The game of Ki o Rahi stems from the legend of Rahitutakahina and Tiarakurapakewai. Not many sports have legends as to how they were created, so this makes the game of Ki o Rahi unique. The legend demonstrates that sport is much more than a game. It is a tribute to our ancestors, our reo and our Māori culture.

2 Teams: Kioma and Taniwha


6 Rules of the game:

1. Played for 4 quarters or 2 halves of a set time, teams alternate roles of Kīoma and Taniwha at half or quarter time.

2. Taniwha score a point by throwing the ki by throwing it at the barrel

3. Kioma score by touching the 7 pous with the ki

4. Taniwha must stop Kīoma from scoring by either touching, 2 handed touches, ripping the tag or tackling them in the appropriate area.

5. Must be running with ki or if standing still they must pass in the next 3-5 sec.

6. Taniwha score by hitting the Tupu with the Kī. Kīoma will have Kaitiaki (guardians) around the Tupu to stop Taniwha from hitting the Tupu.

Product - Market Mix

Our product is a service that provides revenge and fun against the teachers and staff of Hornby Highschool. If they hit a special shot on a teacher they will get a prize and this prize is candy and mini drinks. We are targeting year 9's students and over so that they could have fun/get revenge on the teachers and staff. Our cardboard cutout is 2 by 2 meters, the sponges are a normal car sponge, and the bucket is a 1-litre bucket for water. The ingredients we need is a cardboard cutout for the teacher/staff's face, 2 sponges for the teachers/staff. Candy and mini drinks as the prizes. This comes to a total of $20 and we will expect to get a $15 profit from this. This product/service has already been done before and does require services because we are filling the bucket for them.

Particle Theory

Today we have been learning about the Particle Theory in chemicals 

Particles in a solid have no space and vibrate. Particles in a liquid have no shape but volume. Particles in a gas have no shape and no volume.

and here are the six rules of the Particle Theory

  • All matter is made up of particles
  • All particles in a pure substance are the same
  • There is space between all particles
  • Particles are always moving
  • There are attractive forces between particles
  • Temperature affects the speed at which particles move
Diffusion: movement of particles from high concentration to low concentration. So the temperature affects the speed of particles.



eg: Smelly feet for warm heat and cold = non-smelly feet

Science experiment

My hypothesis is that the Potassium permanganate will spread in warm water faster than the cold water because it makes the particles fast while the cold water makes it slower.

Potassium permanganate in cold water it spreads slow and in warm water, it was faster than the cold water because the hot temperature makes is so that the particles go faster.
